{"id":995,"date":"2017-12-01T16:28:24","date_gmt":"2017-12-01T16:28:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/knoxvillechildrenstheatre.com\/?post_type=tc_events&#038;p=995"},"modified":"2018-09-14T16:31:59","modified_gmt":"2018-09-14T16:31:59","slug":"elf-the-musical-jr","status":"publish","type":"tc_events","link":"https:\/\/knoxvillechildrenstheatre.com\/tc-events\/elf-the-musical-jr\/","title":{"rendered":"Elf: The Musical Jr."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Knoxville Children\u2019s Theatre, in partnership with The Ritchie Company, will present \u201cElf: The Musical Jr.\u201d based on the Broadway musical with music and lyrics by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin.\u00a0 The play will be performed December 1 \u2013 17, Thursdays and Fridays at 7 PM; Saturdays at 1 PM and 5 PM; Sundays at 3 PM.\u00a0 Also, a special 7 PM performance will be held on Sunday, December 10.<\/p>\n<p>This hilarious musical play is based on the 2003 comedy film.\u00a0 William \u201cBuddy\u201d Hobbs, a young orphan child, mistakenly crawls into Santa\u2019s bag of gifts and is transported back to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/North_Pole\">North Pole<\/a>. Years later, Buddy finds out that he\u2019s an ordinary human being and heads off to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/New_York_City\">New York City<\/a>\u00a0in search of his father, Walter Hobbs.\u00a0 But Walter, like many New Yorkers, doesn\u2019t believe in Santa Claus. Neither does Buddy\u2019s brother Michael! Buddy is determined to win over his birth family and help New York City remember the true meaning of Christmas.<\/p>\n<p>The play is performed by 27 talented young actors, from ages 8 to 17.\u00a0 Simeon Thress plays Buddy, and Keegan Stump plays Walter.\u00a0 Jacob Sousley plays Santa, and Logan Bell plays Michael Hobbs.<\/p>\n<p>Eight actors are making their KCT debuts: Hannah Beth Bibee, Austin Bishop, Jake Borden, Abby Cowan, Sarah Grace Faught, Dale Gross, Miley Jenkins, and Jackson Lelle.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the cast includes KCT veterans: Natalia Adams, Campbell Ayres, Hallie Boring, Evie Braude, Reece Brown, Ella Clayton, Nico Ellerbusch, Abby Ann Ramsey, Tori Randall, Eva Rogers, Noah Seaman, Lily Segars, Laura Snyder, Averi Waller, and Olivia Wilson.<\/p>\n<p>KCT Student Director Wheeler Moon directs the production. The musical director is Paul Jones. West High student Amy van der Merwe is the stage manager.\u00a0 The show\u2019s designers are all high-and middle-school students: Wheeler Moon (scenery), Max Harper (lighting), and Bethany Moon (costuming).
