Knoxville Children\u2019s Theatre (KCT) will hold auditions on Monday, April 22, 2024 for our upcoming production of RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN’S \u201cCINDERELLA.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The audition will take place from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM at KCT at 109 E. Churchwell Avenue.\u00a0 KCT Intern Madalyn Payne will direct the production, and Teresa Seals will serve as Musical Director, and Donya Walker will choreograph.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Auditions are by appointment only. Auditionees may choose from the following appointment times: 4:30 PM, 5:00 PM, 5:30 PM, 6:00 PM, 6:30 PM, 7:00 PM, and 7:30 PM. Seven auditionees will be seen at each appointment time; a maximum of 49 auditioners will be seen.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There are at least 20 available roles, including excellent roles for both boys and girls. \u00a0The minimum age to audition is 10 years old, and the maximum age is 18. <\/span>There are at least four roles for actors making their KCT debuts.<\/span><\/p>\n

When Rodgers & Hammerstein’s \u201cCinderella\u201d premiered on TV years ago, it was the most widely viewed program in the history of the medium. Since then, the stage version has enchanted children and adults all around the world.\u00a0 In this specially created version, all the beloved songs and familiar characters have been adapted for young performers and audience members with warmth and comedy.\u00a0 And hearts will soar when the slipper fits!<\/span><\/p>\n

Auditionees should prepare 10 to 16 bars of a song.\u00a0 Each auditionee must bring sheet music for the live accompanist.\u00a0 No \u201ca cappella\u201d auditions (auditions without accompaniment) will be heard.\u00a0 Do NOT choose a song from the show.\u00a0 Please highlight or clearly mark the section of the music that you will be singing for the audition.<\/span><\/p>\n

Songs will be evaluated on pitch, strength of volume, tone, clearness of diction, depth of emotional expression, and ability to act while singing.\u00a0 Songs from musical theatre are strongly recommended.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Auditonees should also prepare a SHORT one-minute monologue from a play or novel. The monologue should express comic emotion and a theatrical level of volume and expression.<\/span><\/p>\n

Auditionees should bring their calendars. All actors will be asked to list all conflicts with the rehearsal schedule. The director will make every attempt to work around conflicts, whenever possible.<\/span>

\n<\/span>Rehea<\/span>rsals will begin on or around May 13, 2024 continuing through Thursday, July 11, 2024. \u00a0Rehearsals are held Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. \u00a0Actors should expect to attend most, but not all, rehearsals; conflicts may be listed at audition. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
