Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and that his half-brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.  Elf JR. features songs by Tony Award-nominees, Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin, with a book by Tony Award-winners, Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin.

Auditioners should prepare 8 to 12 bars of a song.  Each auditioner must bring sheet music for the live accompanist.  No “a cappella” auditions (auditions without accompaniment) will be heard.  Do NOT choose a song from the show.  Please highlight or clearly mark the section of the music that you will be singing for the audition.

Songs will be evaluated on pitch, strength of volume, tone, clearness of diction, depth of emotional expression, and ability to act while singing.  Songs from musical theatre are highly preferred.

Auditoners should also prepare a SHORT one-minute monologue from a play or novel. The monologue should express comic emotion and a theatrical level of volume and expression.

Auditioners should bring their calendars. All actors will be asked to list all conflicts with the rehearsal schedule. The director will make every attempt to work around conflicts, whenever possible.

Music rehearsals will begin on Sunday, October 15.  Stage rehearsals continue through Thursday, November 30.  Rehearsals are held Sunday through Thursday evenings.  No rehearsal from November 21 through 25 for Thanksgiving.  Actors should expect to attend most rehearsals. Tech rehearsals, from November 26 – 30, are mandatory.

Actors must also be available for all 14 regular performances: December 1 – 17, Thursdays through Sundays.

To make an audition appointment please use the online audition request form found at: No calls for appointments, please.

Due to time restrictions, auditioners without an appointment will not be seen.
